We have decided to move forward with BFAS and see how things go. Our main reasoning again was that there are children already waiting for a home with the new agency. We submitted our application on Friday and hope to hear back this week. We are concerned about being approved since we do not meet the income minimums set by many adoption agencies since I am no longer working. It was not a problem for CHSFS but we will have to wait and see what guidelines BFAS has set. They said they would have to look at our debt ask well as income. In the mean time I have complied almost ALL of the dossier to send to the new agency if we are approved. We will have to wait on a refund from CHSFS first though to submit our dossier and fees. Another CHS to BFAS switcher reported that it took about a week. We are waiting though to be sure that we are approved by BFAS before we officially pull out of CHSFS. This weekend I took a day to read ALL of the new agency's Yahoo group messages from beginning to end which helped me get a better feel for the history of the agency which is very, very new in ET. With new agencies you can expect some bumps in the road but since we have been through the process once we feel we are informed enough to handle everything, ask the right questions, and advocate for any changes that may need to be made. So, if everything falls into place as planned (ha, ha...adoption joke) we could have a referral by Thanksgiving or at least by Christmas and we could feasibly travel Late February to early April.

Same here! I hope I didn't scare you with all my rambling, but I'm so happy for you that you've made a decision and are moving forward. Can't wait to hear exciting news.
Oh, and I got my decal in the mail, and it's awesome! Thanks so much!

I randomly clicked on your blog from the blog list from the message board. We adopted our daughter using CHSFS and now are looking at using BFAS for our second adoption. I think I need to do what you did and take a day to read all the messages on the yahoo message board. I nervous about switching but hear good things (so far anyways). My DH did a lot of research and wants to go with them but I feel I need to do my own homework. Love to hear why you decided to make the switch.

i did the same thing when we were thinking of switching to BFAS...spent the night looking over ever post on the group (it's a much more difficult task, now though! w/ so many more people in the group!)
Glad you're in the BFAS family! :)
