living the life. enjoying the journey

This week we are celebrating our Famiversary as we first met Wubitu on Dec. 6th and brought her home Dec. 14th. During this time I am spending some time reflecting over the year and thought I would share for those who are thinking about the preschool age group or are bringing home a little on soon. For reference Wubitu was 3 yrs 1 month when she came home:

When we arrived in ET, Wubitu was wearing size 18 month clothes provided by the Care Center (though they were on the small side). We brought size 24 months and 2T which fit well. However within 6 weeks Wubitu moved on to 3T where she stayed for awhile until she shot up to 5T over the last 3 months. So in 12 months time she went from 18 months to 5T. When we arrived Wubitu was wearing a size 6 shoe and now wears a size 9. The biggest blessing to us was that we had several friends pass their clothes on to us in many different sizes so didn't have to purchase alot of Wubitu's clothes. Thanks to Jennifer F., Sheila W., Dee G., & Shonteal W. for sending along all of thier old girls clothes....we wouldn't have made it through the year without you!!! Now somewhat unfortunately Wuby has caught up in size or surpassed most of these girls so we are hoping to find someone growing out of thier 5T and bigger stuff in case Wubitu continues to grow at such a fast pace.
Wubitu's last check up in ET measured her at 34 inches and 25 pounds (3rd percentile for both height and weight). One year later she is 40 inches and 37 pounds (50th for height and 63rd for weight). 6 inches and 12 pounds!!! She has grown at a very fast pace which included weight gain followed by a gain in height quickly after. For those getting ready to bring a preschooler home, I would plan on having a wide range of sizes available in the first year!
