living the life. enjoying the journey

Tuesday I woke and packed my things to go to Notool. Kalb was very understanding and arranged a driver for me for the day. We packed my bags into the car and drove to Notool to pick Meg up. I wanted to wait until later in the day to pick Sifan up because we planned to go to the BFAS office and the Hilton and I thought it would be easier to get things done without having to entertain her…and I didn’t want to take a chance that she would have a fit at the Hilton. So Meg & I headed to the BFAS office first to make sure our paperwork was in order for Thursday’s embassy appointment, and meg wanted to know what Berhane’s birthdate was. They were very helpful in the BFAS office and pulled our files out and helped us go line by line to fill out our I-600 and I-864’s. The lady in the office thought we were a bit crazy and said we were the first ones to ever come to the office to fill out the papers. Meg and I are total double checkers…Meg kept freaking out if I was looking at my paperwork because she was afraid she was missing something. So after the BFAS office we headed to the Hilton to exchange money and so Meg could finally get on the internet. Meg’s dad was generous enough to buy us all lunch at the Hilton. I enjoyed some fabulous lasagna….oh how I miss tomato sauce!!! We then went to the store to shop for more gifts. Our last stop was to pick Sifan up from the Care Center at about 3 or 4pm. The head nanny told me she asked why mommy didn’t for her before lunch and they said they told her it was because of the tears…. I picked her up for the last time from the care Center and took her to Notool. She had a great time playing with Berhane and rummaging through my suitcases. That night I feared the bedtime routine. I remember Wubitu being really hard to lay down on the first night….she kept turning the lights on and off and if you made her lay down she would scream. I tried to change Sifan into her pj’s but she wasn’t having it so I lay her in bed and turned off the lights and climbed in beside her. She started to fuss so after a few minutes I got up and turned on the lights and got her up we played for a bit and then I had her turn off the light and we climbed into bed together. She whimpered quietly for about 2 minutes and then she started to snore. I fell asleep quickly after.

I was glad to see you and Sifan this afternoon. I was impressed that she wasn't overwhelmed (at the moment she was in my view) by all the people. :-) YAY!! I'm happy the waiting is over for the whole family!!
