My friend Angie B & I decided to take up a triathlon challenge. The Y we work for is running a program where you try to log the miles for a triathlon over a 6 week period (that is 26.2 mile run, 112 mile bike, and 2.4 mile swim). We decided to amp it up and do it 3 times in the 6 week period! 3 weeks to do it once, 2 weeks to do it again and the last week to do all of the miles again.
We are on week 2 and I am LOVING it!
This adoption has worn me down so much and made me feel so weak emotionally & mentally and I was starting to believe that this was a character trait that was going to stick around...and I didn't like it.
Taking on this triathlon challenge has started to prove to me that I am mentally tough!!! When my bottom is numb and my underwear line is digging in from the bike seat and I just want to quit....I think...just keep going, you can do this (oh yeah and I also think I should invest in bike short or a thong for the chaffing issue ;) When my feet are sore I just think 14 more laps you can do it!! And in the endless laps on the track I have time to just think and pray for little Sifan and for each of my friends' adoption journeys.
I has been a real boast and I am feeling like myself again (and hopefully after the 6 weeks I can start to look like myself again).
Let me know if you would like to join the challenge!!! It isn't too late!
