living the life. enjoying the journey

We had a GREAT time trick-or-treating (with an agenda....we had 2 pinatas to fill for Wuby's birthday party the next day). We happened across some of Wuby's friends in New Haven including Wuby's best friend Raina. After downtown pre-trick or treating we headed to my parents house to start the nostalgic journey through the old neighborhood. It is kind of fun to remember what you did and thought as a kids walking down the same streets, including those dreams you had of running really fast and flying once you got to a certain streetlight, playing hide and go seek at friends houses, remembering old ladies that have passed, and old friends that have moved away....ah memories. It is also fun to tell the kids about things you did as a kid and which house still gives out nickles instead of candy. I am still not sure that the boys fully grasp the fact that I was a kids their size once and I lived with grandma & grandpa in this particular room with Aunt Amber. Probably in the same way that I never fully understood.....well LOTS of stuff as a kid.
New family memories.....sigh.
Wuby was the trick or treat DIVA! The families would offer her candy and if it wasn't up to her standard she would say, "well, no thank you"....and reach into their bowl instead. Most of the people took this rather well and got a little chuckle out of it. The couple in the picture below thought she was a sweetheart and gave her a big hug and told her that she needed to come back to visit sometime.
One huge step in the right direction is that when people told her "I like your hair' she said "Thank you" instead of "Yeah, I know!"
We ended up filling 2 1/2 grocery bags full of candy!!! Plenty to fill the pinata with LOTS of extras! We were pushing our agenda though....go kids go...we need some candy for stocking stuffers too!!!!
