I'm completely in agreement with your keeping your 5-year old back. (personally, I think all-day kgn is bad--much of a 5-year old's learning should be done self-directed, like exploring the backyard...) even tho' he is academically ready, it was obvious that he wasn't emotionally ready. This is why Indiana doesn't require compulsory education until age seven...

btw (not that it matters, girl...) my school didn't even have kindergarten. I started at 6 in first grade and graduated "top of my class"--be confident in your and Torrey's gut feelings!
