living the life. enjoying the journey

2 weeks ago I emailed Lindsey (the SW who handles our adoption at CHSFS) to "update our cell phone numbers", oh yeah and check when referrals start up again. They were still waiting on lab tests to come back on the children to start matching them with families but expected to have complete information by September 1st.
Last week Lindsay emailed to let us know that she had been looking through our file (ding, ding, ding) and noticed that we did not recieve a packet on older child adoption (ding, ding, ding) so she sent us the packet. On the front cover was a sticky note that said that it shouldn't be long now! So all of these hints have (perhaps falsely) led me to believe that we would recieve our referral this week! Monday a lady from church named "Lindsay" called and I almost peed my pants in excitment but alas it was just someone trying to make nursery schedule changes....foooey. In response to this false alarm I am asking anyone named Lindsay, Jan, or Alexa to not call me in the next 2 days (unless you use an alias).

So in all of this speculation, I got my heart set on a Birthday referral and I even told Torrey he would be exonerated from his birthday present duties of only speaking with an accent for the whole akward 27th year of my life if we got one today. But, alas the offices have closed so bring on that Aussie & Brit Mr. Ehrman!

There is still hope this week though! After moping around all day, out of desparation and boldness of being the birthday girl I emailed Lindsay to just plain old ask when to expect referrals to start up again (couldn't think of any excuse to mask my lunacy and merit a real email ). Happily she informed me that they received some more information about the children today and expect the rest tomorrow and that referrals would be here at the latest by the end of the week!!! We are next on the unofficial list looking for a toddler so it is VERY likely that we will recieve a referral in the next TWO DAYS!!!! (But nothing is guarenteed)

Lindsay also wanted to check to see if 30 months was still the oldest child we would accept and we decided to increase our age range to 0-40 months (3yrs 4 months) (still leaving 12 months between our new daughter and Carter).

Pray for my sanity!!!
