living the life. enjoying the journey

Happy Birthday Noah!!!
Noah turned 7 last week! We had a backyard party with lots of trampoline time and a tic-tac-toe tournament. I had the flu so we picked up $5 pizzas from Pizza Hut instead of cooking out on the grill.
Kroger didn't have the best selection of cakes so we decorated our own with Star Wars Transformers!

Noah got quite a collection of Transformers which threw all of the dads into a reminiscing cloud of pleasure as they remembered their own battles of good and evil robots from childhood.

This week was also a busy one with the end of Wildcat Baseball. Wildcats is a free baseball program for children 6-18 in Fort Wayne. The kids play 3 days a week. This year has been VERY HOT but we trudged through and got the "Perfect Attendance" medal.

This weekend was also the Allen County Public Library Kids Chess Tournament. This was Noah's second year competing in the Beginner Pre-K to 1st grade division. He didn't win any games this year but he still had a great time.
We haven't determined if he was trying to win or not because he told us afterward that he was trying to get the "Good Sportsmanship Award." We are not sure if he was trying to lose to show that he was happy if he lost or if he was trying to have a good attitude in spite of losing.....I am guessing that he just didn't practice enough... it hurts my head to think of a 7 year old working so hard to get the biggest trophy (the sportsmanship trophy is bigger than 1st place). He did win the Good Sportsmanship trophy, he had a great attitude the whole time and really enjoyed playing. He laughed a lot and met some fun kids.

Here is Noah with his "Good Sportsmanship" trophy and 2nd place in the 1st grade division.
Yes, that is Ethiopia in the background.....obsessed...yes! (Torrey took this one, so it's not just me, he had to wait for the globe to turn for Africa to face us).
